“Not Chelsea players”- Former Blues favourite Todd Boehly’s transfer approach

John Obi-Mikel criticises Todd Boehly for his irrational spending at Chelsea

According to The Metro, Todd Boehly has come under fire for his crazy spending at Chelsea, and John Obi-Mikel claims the club is now signing anyone who is available.

The Blues have spent over £600 million on players in the previous two transfer windows since the takeover of the new regime. But this hasn’t improved the team’s performance, as Chelsea continues to wallow in the bottom half of the standings and experienced early exits from domestic cup competitions.

Graham Potter was hired by Boehly, who was eventually fired due to a streak of unfavourable outcomes. During his management, the team only won 12 games in 31 matches.

Chelsea legend John Mikel Obi blasts Todd Boehly for excessive spending.

Meanwhile.  Frank Lampard, a former midfielder, has been appointed the team’s temporary manager until the end of the current campaign. A rather surprising move, considering eh was found out in his first stint at Stamford Bridge.

Nonetheless, Mikel has been dissatisfied with Boehly’s expenditure and believes it has not been smart. During his conversation with Dubai Eye 103.8 Sport, (h/t Metro) Mikel stated:

‘’I don’t think anyone can make sense of what is going on. Players are coming in through the door. I read articles that Todd Boehly is looking at Arsenal’s radar and whoever Arsenal is going for.”

‘’Some players, when you look at them, are not Chelsea players. Some of them are not good on the ball. When you look at the way the team was playing before Graham Potter got sacked, nothing was happening. There was no spark.”

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.

We can all agree that Boehly overspent aimlessly, which caused a player surplus that made it difficult for Potter to organise effective training sessions at Cobham.

But the bulk of the players for Chelsea were injured, and we needed to be strengthened in several areas, which is why he spent so much money. But Boehly is still grasping the ins and outs of the market since he assumed ownership of the football for the first time.

More Chelsea News:

Even under Roman Abramovich’s administration, which came over in 2003, we didn’t witness immediate victories and trophies. Next season, we won our first Premier League championship, but it took the club a while to win the Champions League, which they won in the 2011–12 campaign.

Boehly is acting in the club’s best interest, and once problems are addressed with new managers and new additions establishing themselves, the team will soon return to title contention.
