Potter reveals what to expect from Chelsea in the summer transfer window

Graham Potter has confirmed Chelsea will see a number of players leave in the summer

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has stated that Chelsea will let a handful of players go in the summer to balance their roster.

Chelsea added nine new players during the January transfer window, which gave Potter trouble finding a solid and balanced lineup for the games. Too many cooks spoil the broth and the Chelsea boss is certainly spoilt for choice.

The former GBrighton boss was obliged to leave players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Benoit Badiashile out of Chelsea’s Champions League team due to a bloated roster.

Carney Chukwuemeka has barely seen game-timing this season.

Also, as the 47-year-old and the owner will handle the matter, Potter’s work has become more challenging as players make a full recovery from their injuries.

Numerous young players, including Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, still don’t receive enough playing time. Potter said that Chelsea will attempt to reduce the squad in the summer when speaking to Sky Sports, (h/t Metro), he said:

“The longer you’re working with each other, the better it gets. At the same time, there are still things we need to keep improving on. The size of the squad is something we have to look at for the summer, but in the meantime, that’s what we’re working with.”

The fact that some of the players on our team hardly get a minute of playing time will be a waste of their careers. Potter is burdened with selecting a solid starting eleven while also considering that he needs to give other players game time.

Yet, compared to players like Carney Chukwuemeka and David Datro Fofana, Mudryk and Madueke have at least played a few games. Datro Fofana and Chukwuemeka seldom played a game; either we loaned them or, in the summer, we figured something out for them.

But, there are still a lot of players who are either warming the benches or serving as backup options; thus, a roster reduction is required in the summer transfer window.
