“We were well beaten”- Frank Lampard admits Chelsea deserved to lose vs Brighton

Frank Lampard has now lost his first three games as interim manager at Chelsea

During the post-game press conference, Frank Lampard asserted that Chelsea were deserving of their loss to Brighton Hove & Albion.

Despite being utterly outmatched by the Seagulls, Chelsea were spared a humiliating defeat as they fell to Brighton 2-1. With Lampard overseeing defeats in the first three games as interim manager and the team has also lost four of its past five games.

Conor Gallagher had given the Blues the lead, but Danny Welbeck’s goal for Brighton levelled the score. The Seagulls’ dominance was rewarded when the substitute Julio Enciso scored from long range, which was enough to give the visitors three points.

This was just another subpar performance from the Blues, who never knew how to solve their issues on the field. They will now play Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals on Tuesday night.

After the defeat, (h/t Mirror), Lampard addressed the media and claimed that his team’s performance was the most disappointing since he has taken charge, and he further said:

“It was the most deserved one. More than defeats, it’s performances we have to talk about. Wins only come with performance, and in terms of performance, that was the most disappointing because we were well beaten.”

Frank Lampard’s appointment as temporary manager by Todd Boehly until they find the perfect manager for the upcoming season appears to be another poor decision, and it is undoubtedly failing.

Players appear bewildered during games and are unable to hold onto the ball for a sustained period of time; as a result, they lose control quickly, giving their opponents opportunities to build the game. It appears that Lampard is unsure of where he may make improvements.

Although it seems like the players have lost their winning character in the matches, it would be unjust to place the blame on them because poor management has also been an issue. Nonetheless, On the plus side, Mykhaylo Mudryk impressed, thus we anticipate Lampard selecting him against Real Madrid. The domestic season is beyond salvaging but the second leg against Real Madrid has the potential to make this a rather memorable European season.
