Chelsea to offer Cobham graduate in exchange for Serie A superstar

Chelsea consider using Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a swap deal for AC Milan ace Rafael Leao

Chelsea are considering using Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a swap arrangement in order to land Rafael Leao. This is regardless of whether he wants to extend his stay at AC Milan.

Given that the former LOSC Lille attacker wants an extension of his contract with AC Milan, Chelsea are yet to throw in the towel according to 90min (h/t Express).

The 23-year-old’s outstanding season with Milan has piqued Chelsea’s interest, and sources suggest that the club is considering a deal in which some of their peripheral players go the other way to Italy. The reigning Serie A MVP, Leao certainly is a world-class talent.

However, Manchester City are also one of the clubs that are also keen on the Portuguese forward. The last thing we need is for a potentially key recruit to join an arch-rival.

Leao has reportedly turned down interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid in order to stay with the Serie A powerhouses. However, it appears to have had little impact on the Blues’ insistence on landing him.

The 23-year-old has had a good season, scoring 12 goals and dishing out seven assists in 29 Serie A appearances. He has also played a significant role in Milan’s advancement to the semifinals of the Champions League, where they will be up against rival club Inter Milan.

Knowing that we currently have enough players out wide who have not yet received playing time, signing him seems like an overkill.

Leao has made his mark at AC Milan, but the young individuals we signed should be given time to develop. If we do manage to sign him, it will not just stunt their playing time but also show itself to be another impulsive move by Todd Boehly.

More Chelsea News:

Although we can let Loftus-Cheek leave the team if a fair offer comes in, considering that he hasn’t played much and is unlikely to receive much playing time the following season since the Blues will add other midfielders.

It would thus be wiser for us to not sign Leao and should go for a striker and a defensive midfielder instead.
