Chelsea contract rebel changes agent as Stamford Bridge exit edges closer

Mason Mount switches agent as his Chelsea exit becomes a major possibility

Mason Mount has switched agents and joined hands with Neil Fewings of Roof Agency to potentially fashion a move away from Chelsea in the summer.

Mount has his contract expiring at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt). He is yet to sign a new deal, and recent revelation suggests that there is still a valuation gap between both parties. Chelsea will sell the player if there is no agreement reached on a new deal after the end of this season.

With the switching of an agent, it seems like the 24-year-old is also preparing to make the move and not wait for the club to make that decision for him.

Among the clubs linked, Liverpool have been the suitor for some time now. Express reported that it is highly likely that the Reds will sign Mount in the summer.

The Guardian has revealed that Manchester United have joined the race as they won’t be able to afford Jude Bellingham. Newcastle United are the other admirers of the England international. Former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino wants the 24-year-old to move to the northeast.

Barring this season, where his form hasn’t been great, Mount was one of the best players at the club in the last two seasons. His form was one of the key parameters behind the Blues’ success in the Champions League in 2021.

He has been at the club since the age of six and obviously loves being here. But, things may have broken down regarding the future which is beyond repairable.

If he is to leave this summer, it would be a massive shame because not only is he an excellent player, but someone who loves the club, is potential captaincy material and is a home-grown talent.
