Graham Potter has explained how Chelsea can qualify for the Champions League next season, despite the fact that their prospects of finishing in the top four may be minimal.
In order to have an impact on the top four teams in the Premier League, Chelsea manager Potter has stated that his team must concentrate on one match at a time.
The Blues are now in 10th place in the standings and are 11 points behind Tottenham, who hold the final spot necessary to qualify for the Champions League, going into the matchup versus Leicester.
The fact that Chelsea had a difficult 2022–23 campaign throughout all four competitions should not be clouded by two successful results in the previous week. Potter and the players can now build on that winning momentum and hope to finish in the Champions League spots after two enormous victories – either through the league or by winning the whole thing.
However, fourth place is still far away, and winning the Champions League might be a more likely path to competing in the competition the following year.
With Chelsea’s victory over Dortmund in the Champions League to seal a berth in the quarterfinals, Potter suddenly appears to be displaying the personality that fans were hoping to see.
Potter offered his advice (h/t Football.london), on how the team can finish in the top four before the match against Leicester City and said:
“I wouldn’t say it’s a lack of belief. I think it’s a realisation that we are where we are, and rather than think too far that way, zoom into the next one. If you win the next one, move on to the next one and have the same approach.”
With two victories, we hope that we are moving in the right direction, and we anticipate that the players’ attitude towards winning has altered as a result of the last two victories.
The club are currently playing Leicester, who are also having trouble in the league and are behind us in the standings. We should reap the benefits of their vulnerability. It’s all about who can string a big run towards the end of the campaign. A win against the Foxes, where we are currently leading through a Ben Chilwell goal, could take us to 38 points in 27 league games – 11 behind Tottenham Hotspur if they beat Brentford in their match today.
We still have games against Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Manchester City left later this campaign. A strong end to the season could see our chances to finish in the top four improve. Liverpool’s away 1-0 loss against AFC Bournemouth earlier today would massively boost our case in that regard,
