Graham Potter has ‘held talks’ with Mykhaylo Mudryk over lack of game time at Chelsea

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has ‘held talks’ privately with Mykhaylo Mudryk to explain the Ukrainian’s lack of game time in recent fixtures, according to Chelsea insider Simon Phillips (h/t Express).

The English manager has been in touch with the 22-year-old to clarify why he has not featured much in the last few fixtures. While the forward is unlikely to be happy about his situation, it helps to put forward the former Brighton & Hove Albion head coach’s point of view.

Recently, Potter has also had success using a similar tactic with Marc Cucurella. The Spain international has mostly struggled since making his way to West London.

In our last three Premier League squads, the 24-year-old has been left out. However, the defender returned to the starting lineup for the fixture against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League round of 16-second-leg.

We beat the Bundesliga giants 2-0 after losing the first leg and qualified for the quarter-finals. The former Brighton star was named Man of the Match in the victory.

Mudryk signed for the Blues in the previous transfer window for £89 million. After an impressive debut against Liverpool. However, after starting in the draws to Fulham and West Ham United, the Ukraine international has found himself on the bench.

The 22-year-old had been in fine form for Shakhtar Donetsk in the first half of the campaign. However, the forward has not found his feet yet at the Stamford Bridge side.

Potter has a lot of options to choose from in the attack. The English manager has trusted Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz and Joao Felix in the last few matches. He can also call upon the likes of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Noni Maduek.

Mudryk has just started his career at Chelsea. It is not surprising to see the forward take time to get used to the Premier League. Hopefully, Potter will be able to get the best out of the 22-year-old and realise his potential in the coming future.
