Eden Hazard hints at potential Real Madrid exit amid Chelsea return links

Eden Hazard has been linked with a potential return to Chelsea in the summer window

Eden Hazard has hinted at a summer exit from Real Madrid, with Football.London linking him with a return to Chelsea. The La Liga giants are reluctant to extend the Belgian’s contract, where he has just one year left, (Transfermarkt).

The 32-year-old also disclosed that he and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti’s relationship had soured and that they no longer communicate. In an effort to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid signed Hazard in 2019. But the Belgian has not met the hype for Los Blancos.

His career has been hampered by recurring injuries and he has only made 73 appearances since joining the Spanish team, scoring seven goals and dishing out 11 assists.

With just 296 minutes of action competitions all leagues this season, the former Chelsea player has only scored one goal and provided one assist. And his last appearance for Real came in the Copa del Rey matchup against bottom-tier team CP Cacereno.

Hazard recently stated he has no plans to leave the club this summer despite not appearing in many of the games, and he is interested in finishing the remaining year of his deal, which is worth £470,000 per week.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the 32-year-old’s situation in a tweet (h/t Football. London), where Hazard was asked about his future at Real RTBF Sport. The former Lille winger responded:

“For me, I will still be at Real Madrid next season — but you never know. Me and Ancelotti? There is respect, but we don’t talk to each other. I miss playing football. I want to play. I want to have fun.”

Eden Hazard hinted at a possible return to Chelsea.

It’s unlikely Chelsea would want Hazard to return given his injury-prone time at Real Madrid, and he is also reaching the end of his career as he is 32 and has only a few years left.

Also, he is not the Hazard of Chelsea, who could beat defenders at will and singlehandedly decide the outcome of the match; he might have lost his pace and confidence to dribble due to recurring injuries.

More Chelsea News:

It is understandable that he was Chelsea’s one of greatest players, but Todd Bohly should act in the club’s best interests. Moreover, his salary at the Santiago Bernabeu could prove to be too much for any team.

Chelsea have also shown in the latest window that they are interested in investing in young players rather than those at the end of their playing days. Our squad isn’t complete or flawless enough to go out and sign Hazard just for the sentimental value. We should rather invest the money in a new centre-forward.
