“He doesn’t care”- Chelsea defender defends Graham Potter amidst poor run of form

Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly defends Graham Potter and labels him a “great manager”

Talking to the Sun (h/t Metro), Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly has jumped up in defence of his boss Graham Potter and points out why he is a great manager.

Potter has been under immense pressure in the last few weeks with results not coming despite heavy spending in the January transfer window.

Chelsea have won only two of their last 15 league games and deservedly lie 10th in the table with very little chance of even finishing in the Europa League places. It was reported that the next two games (against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund) are in a must-win territory for Potter if he has to save his job.

But, here’s what Koulibaly said when asked about Potter and what makes him great (h/t Metro):

“Graham Potter is very good at communicating with everyone. And he doesn’t care if you cost £100million or £20m, he will treat you in the same way. That’s the mark of a great manager.”

After losing to Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday, Reece James spoke to the media and took some responsibility while defending the manager. It is good to see that the players are willing to take some of the fire on their shoulders and not leave everything for Potter.

There is no denying that the manager needs to do better with the resources and the backing he has got. But, can the players say they have done their best and still lost games? One would doubt so.

At times, players do forget that in the wake of not giving their 100% to the manager, they are cheating with the club that is paying them millions, and most importantly, they are lying to the fans who back them through thick and thin.
