AC Milan interested in signing 27-year-old Chelsea midfielder

AC Milan are keen on signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek in summer transfer window

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has garnered interest from AC Milan and the midfielder has less than 18 months left on his Chelsea contract,(Transfermarkt).

As Loftus-Cheek approaches the closing months of his present Chelsea contract, the Italian club are seemingly interested in signing him this summer, according to CalcioMercato (h/t Daily Mail).

They have signed Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud in recent years, and also loaned Tiemoue Bakayoko. Hence, there is a clear line of communication between the two clubs.

There have been concerns voiced about the future possibilities of players like Loftus-Cheek due to the Blues’ somewhat large transfer frenzy under Roman Abramovich’s successors, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, both last summer and this January.

AC Milan wants to acquire Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

And it is understood that the two teams first spoke about the midfielder after their autumn Champions League group-stage matches.

A price of about £22 million has reportedly been negotiated, according to an Italian publication, but it is unclear how much Chelsea will demand in the summer.

The 27-year-olds’ contracts expire next summer, and the new ownership has made it clear that they won’t permit players to extend their contracts in order to depart on a free transfer, like Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen most recently did.

The figure of £22 million is respectable for a player like Loftus-Cheek, who has only appeared in 16 Premier League games so far this year, and only six of those have been starts.

In most of the games, we have used the England international as a substitute, and on a few occasions, when we had injured players, he has played the entire game. The 27-year-old, though, has demonstrated his attributes by playing a variety of roles.

However, at Milan, he will be able to establish himself and receive more playing time just like Tomori – or at least that is what he will be hoping. I Rossoneri are one of the biggest teams in Europe historically and currently.

This could be a good move for either party. It would allow us the chance to rake in some cash and get a name off our wage books. For the player, this could be a big move that helps him establish himself as a crucial first-team player for a big team.
