“I heard that”- Journo reveals why Jude Bellingham rejected Chelsea interest

Jude Bellingham claimed lack of clarity in plans prevented the player from joining Chelsea

Jude Bellingham was not impressed by Chelsea’s ambitions, which resulted in the Blues signing Enzo Fernandez from Benfica on the deadline day of the January transfer window.

It is believed Chelsea’s plans lacked clearance, which failed to convince the Borussia Dortmund midfielder to join the West Londoners. Bellingham has been pursued by a number of teams, with Liverpool and Real Madrid being the frontrunners, whom he might sign in the summer.

The midfielder, who is 19 years old, has developed into one of the league’s brightest talents and has been outstanding this season with four goals and four assists in 18 Bundesliga games.

However, the 19-year-old has indicated that he would like to sign for Real Madrid in the summer since he wants to play in the Champions League and feels he can thrive there.

Liverpool and Chelsea have little chance of securing a Champions League spot as both clubs are enduring a difficult season. Additionally, it’s thought that Dortmund could keep the midfielder for another season should Real Madrid decide not to sign him this summer, (Transfermarkt).

The report comes from German journalist Christian Falk, who told Caught Offside (h/t Daily.Mail) that the former Birmingham midfielder had ruled out moving to the club because he regarded Chelsea’s intentions as unpersuasive:

“He seems very clear in his plans. I heard that, before Enzo Fernandez’s move to London, Bellingham was looking at what was going on at Chelsea.”

“Chelsea were interested, but Bellingham saw there wasn’t a clear plan at the club, so there wasn’t a massive amount of interest in going there.”

Fernandez, who won the 2022 World Cup and was named the Youngest Player of the Tournament, was excited to join and would not have done so if we didn’t have a clear plan for the future.

Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Mudeke were willing to join and demonstrated their confidence in our future plans. We have made significant investments in young talent since they will be essential to restoring our club’s supremacy.

We have also developed a lot of young players, including Mason Mount, Nathan Ake, and Reece James, who are now key players for their teams. It remains to be seen if the second half of the season is good enough to convince Bellingham that the Blues are headed in the right direction and are a team based around youngsters just like him.
