Shots fired as rival boss rates PL duo over Chelsea ace

David Moyes rates two defenders above Benoit Badiashile ahead of the Chelsea clash

Speaking to the media after the Newcastle United game, as quoted by Football.London, West Ham United manager David Moyes rated Nayef Aguerd and Sven Botman above Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile out of the left-footed defenders who came out of the French League to the Premier League.

Badiashile was signed by Chelsea last month from AS Monaco and already seemed to have made a positive impact in the game. The same can be said about Botman (Newcastle United) and Aguerd (West Ham) though, who arrived at their respective clubs last summer. The latter has had injury issues but he has looked very good when on the field.

It is difficult to rate them in the way Moyes has done to be fair. If the impact of a player in the Premier League was taken into account, then Badiashile needs more games to prove that he is actually the real deal.

Anyway, here’s what the West Ham boss said on this issue (h/t Football.London):

“I’ve got to say I compare (Aguerd) a lot to Botman. Botman and Aguerd, I thought, were probably the two best left footed centre-backs in France.

“Obviously there’s the boy who has gone to Chelsea (Badiashile), and there’s a few others. But they (Botman and Aguerd) were in a similar category.”

With the Hammers due to face Chelsea this Saturday, this sounds like a challenge from Moyes for Badiashile. All eyes will be on him and Aguerd in that game at the London stadium.

If we go by the instant impacts of a player in a new team, the Frenchman has been top-notch for the Blues. They have not conceded a goal in the three league games he has started. Moreover, the 21-year-old was fantastic for Monaco as well before coming to Chelsea.

Anyway, these are just opinions of a manager who obviously would rate his player at a higher level compared to others. For Badiashile, it is only right that he continues the good work in a Chelsea shirt and let his performances do the talking.
