Chelsea receive boost in pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham
Chelsea and Liverpool are having one of their worst seasons in recent memory, and they could target more signings to improve their rosters for the upcoming campaign.
It’s an awful contrast from the previous campaign when both teams were competing for the championship and going head-to-head in both domestic cup finals. As the summer transfer window opens, both clubs plan to pursue Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
Despite their large spending, the Blues still aim to strengthen their midfield and would compete with Liverpool in Bellingham’s acquisitions.
There were worries that the England international may decide against a trade if neither team advances to the Champions League this season. That isn’t the case now, though, as the England international is closely monitoring Liverpool’s performance this year and feels he can be a difference-maker if he joins them, which is the same case for Chelsea.
Moreover, the 19-year-old thinks he can assist Liverpool’s midfield to get better, according to journalist Christian Falk on Caught Offside (h/t Football.London). Falk discussed this subject and stated:
“I heard that Jude Bellingham is keeping a very close eye on what Liverpool are doing at the moment. I’ve been told nobody should think he’s a player that wouldn’t go to Liverpool because of the difficult situation they’re in.
“It’s the other way around – he’s actually the kind of guy who would love to go to a club where he can change their fortunes.”
It seems that adding Enzo Fernandez was not enough because we still lack a solid midfielder who can assist the Argentine in controlling the game from midfield.
It definitely gives Chelsea a push in making a move for a former Birmingham midfielder this summer, as we are also a financially strong club. He is a brilliant box-to-box midfielder who can really make a difference on both ends of the pitch and is a player we should be looking to break the bank for.

It also says a lot about his character if he wants to join a team where he can drive them to success, rather than hop on as a passenger in an already successful team. We are currently 11 points off fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur after having played 23 games – one less than Spurs.
Top-four looks very, very difficult at this moment but with the way we have signed players and the ambition shown by our owners, Bellingham would understand that this is a season of transition. Like Liverpool, Chelsea are a team that have now made themselves into such a giant that mediocrity and decline is simply unaccepted here. We will be back next season.
