Chelsea throw a spanner in Arsenal’s transfer plans with January splurge

Chelsea have made life difficult for Arsenal in their pursuit of Declan Rice

Chelsea breaking the British record signing for Enzo Fernandez has now affected Arsenal in their pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

According to sources cited by writer Dean Jones (via Express.UK), West Ham United want Arsenal to shatter the British transfer record by spending £110 million, thanks to Chelsea’s outlay for Fernandez.

Arsenal are reportedly looking to make an offer in the summer transfer window in an effort to get the 24-year-old from the Hammers. However, it is anticipated that there would be a significant obstacle in the way of obtaining the player since Hammers have set Rice at an outrageous price in direct response to Chelsea’s actions.

This might be a problem for the Gunners since they want to sign Rice but find it difficult to spend  £110 million while trying to improve the middle of the field. The 24-year-old, who graduated from Chelsea’s academy as a youth, was also being pursued by The Blues.

Additionally, considering Todd Boehly’s extravagant spending during the transfer window, Chelsea may compete with Arsenal in luring Rice back to Stamford Bridge. Despite his expensive cost, Boehly has demonstrated a strong interest in bringing in excellent players.

And spending money remains none of our concern as long as we are not breaking the Financial Fair Play rule. We can continue to bring in top players.
