Sporting CP rejects Tottenham Hotspur bid for Chelsea target

Sporting CP have rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s first bid for Pedro Porro

Sporting CP have rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s initial offer for right-back Pedro Porro who is also a transfer target for Chelsea.

Tottenham met with their Sporting CP counterparts and presented their initial offer, which was for £29 million plus bonuses, according to the Portuguese publication Record (h/t Metro).

However, the Portuguese club immediately rejected it as they want the Premier League giants to pay his release clause. Tottenham, though, thought they would compensate for the contract with performance-related add-on bonuses.

Sporting are determined to not release him until either of the clubs meets his release clause, which is reportedly worth €45 million. Given how the Lilywhites are falling short, there is always hope that Chelsea can swoop in and land the player.

The Portuguese club declined Tottenahm’s offer, but Spurs could return with a subsequent offer. How Chelsea responds to it remains to be seen.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has been lobbying the board to finalise the deal before Chelsea makes their opening bid. Given how we thwarted Arsenal to Mykhailo Mudryk, the North Londoners have enough reasons to worry.

Since Todd Boehly seems to be progressively learning the football transfer market and has so far handled his opportunities well. It remains to be seen if lightning can strike North London twice in the same month.

Todd Boehly wants to build a new team under his reign.

Chelsea are in desperate need of a right-back considering they don’t have many alternatives there other than Reece James, who has missed several games this season. However, Chelsea are also showing interest in Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan. Clearly, there are alternatives on our radar.

More Chelsea News:

Given that James has been hampered by injuries this year and has no backup for him, a right-back remains a top priority for Chelsea. Boehly will need to make a signing before the January transfer window closes.
