Chelsea newcomer aims to emulate former Stamford Bridge favourite

Noni Madueke hopes to emulate Eden Hazard at Chelsea

Noni Madueke has named Eden Hazard as his favourite Chelsea player, and he hopes to follow in the Belgian ace’s footsteps.

In an effort to assemble a strong team, Chelsea spent £29 million to recruit Madueke from PSV Eindhoven. He joins Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix (On loan), Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, and David Datro Fofana as the club’s other January signings.

Hazard had a great career at Stamford Bridge before moving to Real Madrid. During his stint at the Bridge, he scored 110 goals and recorded 92 assists during the course of 352 appearances across all competitions.

His time at Real Madrid, however, has not gone as intended. He is more of a bench warmer today, a far cry from the starring roles played at Stamford Bridge.

He only managed seven goals and 11 assists in 73 appearances for Los Blancos. It would appear his time in the sun is coming to an end.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website (h/t Football.London), Madueke said he wanted to emulate the career of a Belgian international. like he said.

“I’d probably have to say Eden Hazard, a just get you of your seat kind of player. So exciting in terms of the flair and that. There’s definitely similarities but I hope to be as good as him one day.”

These are quite encouraging statements from a 20-year-old who is fully committed to the team and wants to offer his utmost. Chelsea supporters enjoyed how the Belgian engraved his name in the club’s annals and won over the hearts of fans, as he stated he wanted to mimic Hazard’s career.

Madueke has made nine appearances and scored twice for Eindhoven this season. He is still a player in his developmental stages and will do well to take it slow and steady. After all, even Hazard took his time to find his best at Chelsea.
