“Here we go”- Fabrizio Romano confirms 23-year-old forward is set for Chelsea medical

Chelsea have completed the signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on loan, says Romano

Chelsea have agreed to loan Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, who will travel to London for his medical and signing. The Blues sealed a loan agreement for the 23-year-old for €11million and will cover his whole wage till the contract expires.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, who says that Felix has agreed to sign with Chelsea and will soon complete his medical in London.

The rumours follow after Chelsea indicated an interest in the Atletico Madrid star, with Manchester United also interested.

However, Chelsea pushed for the move in recent days and have finally sealed their deal with their fourth acquisition of the January window, as per Romano. The acquisition of Felix could boost Chelsea’s attacking line and offer greater fluidity in the final third.

Felix appeared to be discontent at Atletico Madrid and it seems that he has found a new destination for himself after the World Cup 2022. Chelsea and Manchester United were both interested in the player, but the Blues have seemingly finalized the signing on time.

This comes shortly after they were dealt an apparent setback with the signing of Mykhyalo Mudryk, as the Ukrainian is supposedly close to joining Arsenal.

Graham Potter will be hoping that the 23-year-old signing will yield results, given that their previous signing flopped spectacularly and the players have remained subpar in the attacking third, and Felix, who has four goals and three assists in 14 games for Atletico Madrid in La Liga, could prove pivotal.

However, the Atletico Madrid star can do a lot more than that; he enjoys building the game from the back and changing the flow of the game with his incisive passing, and he also possesses goalscoring flair, something Chelsea strikers have lost in previous encounters.

If the player impresses the former Brighton manager, there could always be the possibility of thinking of a more long-term move for him. However, that could be difficult as he will, according to Romano, sign a contract extension until the summer of 2027 before joining us this winger.
