Romano indicates Chelsea have won the race to sign 22-year-old Arsenal target

Chelsea hijack Mykhaylo Mudryk deal from under Arsenal’s noses

Chelsea’s board members are currently in Poland and are pushing for a verbal agreement to hijack the Mykhaylo Mudryk deal from rival Arsenal.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has posted on Twitter that the Chelsea board is in Poland and seeking to reach a verbal agreement for the Ukrainian youngster. In another update, he has added that we have had a bid of around 100 million Euros accepted by Shakhtar.

Chelsea and Arsenal were vying for the services of the youngster from Shakhtar Donetsk, but it appeared that Arsenal were winning the battle when the player agreed to sign a five-year contract with the Gunners. However, an agreement between the two teams had not yet been reached.

However, it appears like Chelsea are back in contention and will work to close the deal to sign the 22-year-old. It is obvious that Chelsea are seeking out players with certain attributes and are young.

But sometimes a big deal exaggerates a player’s value and puts pressure on the player to live up to his potential, that too in the Premier League.

This has frequently been seen with clubs paying substantial sums of money for players; an example could be Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish, who are having difficulty living up to expectations at their current clubs. We have seen that happen to ourselves with regard to Romelu Lukaku, who is now on loan at Inter Milan until the summer.

But we hope Chelsea will give him enough time to get accustomed to the new environment, as sudden demands increase the workload on the players, which leads to a negative impact on their performance.

However, we think Mykhaylo is a player with excellent qualities and under the right management, he can justify the audacious price tag that is being quoted above. Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic are struggling for regular minutes under Graham Potter.

Joao Felix, meanwhile, is only here on a loan deal. Hence, the 22-year-old may not have a lot of trouble finding regular minutes instantly if he makes the switch to west London. We now hope Arsenal don’t pop up with a late bid to spoil our party.
