Brighton ask Chelsea to increase their offer for Moises Caicedo

Brighton Hove & Albion have increased their offer as Chelsea and Arsenal continue their pursuit of Moises Caicedo

Due to Brighton Hove & Albion’s reluctance to sell Moises Caicedo, Chelsea will apparently need to raise their offer to satisfy the Seagulls’ desires.

The 21-year-old has a new asking price of £90 million (h/t Independent. UK), who will only sell the player if Chelsea and Arsenal match that amount.

Both The Blues and Gunners made £55 million and £60 million offers respectively. However, the Seagulls rejected them, as they now want more than £90 million for the youngster.

Both teams are in dire need of a central midfielder, and Caicedo seems to fit the bill. After beating Arsenal to a Mykhaylo Mudryk acquisition, Chelsea are now once again in a bidding war with rivals of North London.

The 21-year-old’s attitude has, however, also altered because he now wishes to leave the club, as he missed training on Saturday, and is very likely to miss the FA Cup match against Liverpool.

Caicedo also wrote on his Instagram page that he wants to leave the club amidst interest from bigger teams. Chelsea are also considering raising their offer to match Brighton’s valuation. But it remains to be seen if the team has the financial flexibility to do that after investing more than £88 million in Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Although it is obvious that Caicedo has been a crucial player for the Seagulls, Chelsea would be wise to hunt for alternatives as spending so much in one window seems like a tough ask for some of the richest teams in the world.

The Blues recently signed Malo Gusto from Olympique Lyonnais, who will join the team in the summer. We believe Chelsea should wait until the summer to sign Caicedo from Brighton or pursue a loan deal with another player who can do the job now.
