“My responsibility”- Potter sheds light on summer singings struggles at Chelsea

Graham Potter explains why Raheem Sterling has suffered at Chelsea

Speaking in an interview as quoted by Evening Standard, Graham Potter has explained why he thinks English star Raheem Sterling has suffered at Chelsea so far.

Sterling joined the Blues from Manchester City in the summer and was expected to spearhead the Chelsea attack. However, things have not really gone according to plan for the talented winger.

The former Liverpool and Manchester City forward has shown in the past that he has the pedigree to succeed in the Premier League. However, he has not really shown that quality at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling has had his moments in a Blues shirt. However, Potter will be expecting a much more consistent output from the talented winger as he must emerge as the leader of the attack.

Potter has claimed that he thinks the move to Chelsea coupled with the fact that he has had two managerial changes already has definitely not helped Sterling’s cause out here.

Here is what Potter had to say about the poor form of Sterling and what he expects from his prized asset for the rest of the season

“Raheem has come into a new team that has lost some key players over the summer, brought some new ones in, and then the manager has changed. It would be wrong of me to say that Raheem has been at the absolute top of his game, but he is not the only one. It is my responsibility”

The Blues will really be hoping that Sterling can have a better second half to the season. If he has a resurgent time from here on, Chelsea could really push for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

A confident Sterling is a completely different proposition. He can influence games on his own, show his quality and be the leader in attack that the Blues are desperately craving for.

Let’s hope that Potter can revive Sterling’s Chelsea career. If he can, this poor form will be forgotten and this signing would actually make sense for the Blues after all.
