Chelsea handed transfer boost from 22-year-old Juventus striker’s agent

Chelsea handed boost as the agent of Dusan Vlahovic doesn’t rule out Juventus exit

According to Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Football.London), Chelsea received a boost in their bid to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic as his agent does not rule out a move any time soon.

The Serbia international, who was part of the national team squad that bowed out of the group stage in the World Cup, has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.

Both the London clubs have problems with their centre-forward following injuries. Gunners lead man Gabriel Jesus was injured in the World Cup and needed surgery to eradicate that. Now, he is out for three months.

Blues striker Armando Broja, on other hand, picked up an ACL injury during the friendly against Aston Villa last week and is ruled out for the rest of this season.

Vlahovic’s agent, Darko Ristic, is aware of the interest from Premier League clubs and has not ruled out a move for the striker in the January transfer window.

Juventus also are aware of the fact that an offer is imminent for their striker next month, although they would ideally want to wait till the summer to do a deal.

Back in January of this year, the Old Lady paid £66.6m to sign Vlahovic from Fiorentina, beating Arsenal in the process. At the time, it felt like a great move for the Italian giants.

The 22-year-old’s record for Juventus has been decent, to say the least. He has scored 16 goals and assisted four in 36 appearances in all competitions since arriving in Turin in January. Bearing in mind that the Serie A giants have been nothing short of mediocre in the last 12 months, those numbers look great.

Even without the injury to Broja, Chelsea lack a player like Vlahovic who can score goals, run the channel, pose difficulties to defenders even when not scoring and be clinical rather than wanting umpteen chances to score a goal.

So, it would make sense if we test Juventus’ waters in January and see if the 22-year-old is accessible for a move. One thing is guaranteed we cannot go the rest of this season with just Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz as our number nine options.
