Chelsea confident of extending veteran ace’s stay at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are now confident that Jorginho will sign a new contract

According to Metro, Chelsea are confident that midfielder Jorginho will sign a new contract with the club in the coming days or weeks.

The Italian international, whose contract expires at Stamford Bridge at the end of this season (Transfermarkt), rejected the first offer of extension from the club a couple of months ago, citing inadequate pay rise as the reason.

The 2021 Euros winner has attracted interest from Italian clubs AC Milan and Juventus. He has made it clear that one day he will return to Italy.

But, Chelsea are confident that the latest contract offer will be accepted by the player and he will extend his stay in west London for a few more years, hopefully.

The 31-year-old, who was part of Chelsea’s Champions League-winning team in 2021, is enjoying his football under the current Blues boss Graham Potter.

If he signs that contract, it should be perceived as good news among the fans of the club. Jorginho is an experienced player who can be a leader of the team, can dictate games from midfield and drive the team forward in tough circumstances.

Jorginho has been one of the leaders of the team.

Chelsea could do with a player like him in the squad for years to come, irrespective of whether he plays every game or not.

We can hope that Jorginho remains focused on his game and show why he is offered this new contract by the club. The way he has given his all for the Blues so far, nothing else can be expected.
