Report: Chelsea target wants to play for Real Madrid despite £130m barrier

Transfer News: Chelsea target Jude Bellingham wants to play for Real Madrid despite £130 million valuation barrier

In what will come as disappointing news to Chelsea fans, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham wants to play for Real Madrid despite the Spanish club not being prepared to meet his valuation.

Dortmund are believed to be valuing the 19-year-old at an eye-watering price of £130 million. It was earlier reported that the Los Blancos were not willing to meet such a valuation.

However, according to AS (h/t Football. London), those close to the midfielder believe he has his heart set on playing for the Spanish giants. This will definitely be heartbreaking for some other clubs.

Graham Potter is in desperate need of revamping his midfield. Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are in their 30’s and past their prime. The latter has also struggled to stay fit this season and will miss the World Cup.

Mateo Kovacic too has been inconsistent with his fitness. This leaves Conor Gallagher, Carney Chukwuemeka and Ruben Loftus-Cheek as the central midfielders in the team.

While Gallagher has been improving, Chukwuemeka still needs to play more before he can dream of being a regular. Loftus-Cheek meanwhile has been a fringe player throughout his Blues career and has not proven himself to be a reliable starter.

A world-class midfielder is needed and Bellingham, despite being only 19, is just that. Having the player in the middle of the park will definitely upgrade Chelsea’s midfield, while also securing its future for years to come.

It will be wise for the west London club to up their interest and try to pursue the midfielder to have a change in heart. A young talent with so much potential, it will really be disappointing if the Blues miss out on him next summer.

It’ll be even more frustrating if he ends up joining one of our Premier League rivals considering just how much he can strengthen their midfield at our direct expense – especially if we don’t strengthen in this position.
