Transfer News: Chelsea host Endrick and his family at Cobham in a bid to beat other clubs to his signature

Chelsea hosted Palmeiras striker Endrick and his family at their club’s training ground at Cobham in a bid to beat other clubs to his signature, according to The Times (subscription required).

The Blues are interested in the 16-year-old Brazilian but are not alone in their pursuit. Top clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs that are interested in the teenage striker.

Chelsea seem to have upped their interest and hosted his family at Cobham. It is also believed that the west London club introduced Thiago Silva to his family and the 38-year-old spent some time with the sought-after striker.

A left-footed striker, Endrick became the youngest-ever player to feature for Palmeiras’ senior team when he came off the bench against Coritiba FC during his side’s 4-0 win over them in October. Since then, the 16-year-old has made six appearances in Brazil’s top-tier league and scored three goals in the process.

It is hardly surprising to see the Blues show such interest in the youngster. A top up-and-coming talent, the 16-year-old is one of the most sought-after player by top European clubs.

Chelsea have long had problems in their striker department. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently the main striker of the team, but he is on the wrong side of his 30s. Armando Broja is a young and talented striker but still needs to play more to become a regular.

By adding another young talent in their squad, the club could seal the future of attack department for years to come. Endrick is a versatile forward, capable of being deployed anywhere in the front-three. Also, the west London club has one of the best academies in the country and could use that to its advantage to secure the teenage striker’s signature.

It was never going to be easy to secure the striker’s signature, given the interest of so many clubs. But, the Blues have taken a further step by inviting his parents to Cobham. Whether this will be enough to convince the teenager to make a move to west London remains to be seen.
