Romano: Liverpool have contacted Chelsea target playing in Bundesliga

Transfer News: Chelsea dealt blow as Liverpool make contact for transfer target Jude Bellingham

Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund and England international Jude Bellingham after rivals Liverpool made contact with the German club for the midfielder.

This is according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano via Twitter (h/t Football. London). The 19-year-old is one of the most sought-after players currently in Europe.

Apart from the Blues and the Reds, the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid are also interested in the midfielder. Jurgen Klopp’s side considers the young player to be their main target and have already made contact with his club.

Liverpool have an ageing midfield with the likes of James Milner and Jordan Henderson still part of their squad. Other midfielders like Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita have struggled to stay fit for the course of a season.

The west London club too have similar problems. Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are in their 30s and also see their current contracts expire next summer. A young and dynamic midfielder is needed and Bellingham could be considered the best option.

Despite his young age, the midfielder is a regular for both club and country and already plays like someone who has years of experience under his belt. Also, the player is just 19 and has yet to unlock his full potential.

Chelsea are ushering into a new era with new owners and a new manager at the helm. World-class players are needed to help build the foundation, and the 19-year-old is already one of the best in the business.

He has what it takes to anchor our midfield for years to come. Losing him to a direct Premier League rival would be a double whammy for us.
