Chelsea boss Graham Potter keeping track of French forward who scored 21 goals last season

Graham Potter wants to sign Rennes striker Martin Terrier for Chelsea

According to Sports Witness (h/t Football. London), Chelsea boss Graham Potter wants to sign highly-rated talented French striker Martin Terrier from Rennes after his impressive performances for the French club.

The 25-year-old French striker has caught the eye with his performances for Rennes. He has been one of the best strikers in Ligue 1 and his numbers are showing a lot of promise. He has been linked with a number of clubs that have been impressed with the player.

Terrier has played 19 times for the French club this season scoring 11 goals and providing four assists across all competitions. These numbers are solid for a player who is playing in Ligue 1 and he could be an interesting option for the Blues.

Chelsea need a striker for the present and the future. They do have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their ranks for the striker role but the Gabonese striker is not a long-term solution an the Blues will know that they need a player to compete with him.

Terrier is not young by any means though and at 25, he has had his fair share of football experience. He is at the age where he can play a first-team role at Chelsea as he is not too young and he also has his prime years as a footballer still ahead of him.

Chelsea might not be the only club interested in Terrier though. It remains to be seen how the negotiations progress for the French forward. If the Blues are able to get him on a bargain deal, then it will be a move that works out very well for them.

One problem with Terrier though could be his relative lack of experience playing at the top level. The Rennes striker has played for Olympique Lyon but a jump to the Premier League might be a daunting task for the 25-year-old striker at least as of now.

Thus, signing Terrier could be a huge gamble for the Blues. Whilst he has shown promise, if Chelsea indeed design to sign him, they will have to be patient with him. It might take some time for the French forward to adapt to life in England.
