“Nobody trusts the process”- Thomas Tuchel sends Chelsea warning to Graham Potter

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel sends warning to current boss Graham Potter

Speaking to the Ayurvedic Healing and Beyond Podcast (h/t Daily Mail), former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has warned current boss Graham Potter that nobody will trust the process if he keeps on losing games.

The Blues have been four league games without a win, including a thumping defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion and a humbling at home by Arsenal. As a result of these results, they are now well below where they would have hoped to be in the league table.

Tuchel, the 2021 Champions League winner with Chelsea, was sacked earlier this season after a slow start to the season. He talked about how no one will remember or trust the process, as everything is result-dependent in the current day and age.

Here’s what the former Borussia Dortmund boss said (h/t Daily Mail):

“My experience in Chelsea, Paris, Dortmund and Mainz, it is about the results.

“You can overcome one loss, a short period… but it cannot be too long otherwise nobody trusts the process no more.”

There can be a degree of leniency with how Potter’s era at Chelsea is seen so far. The former Brighton boss was hired after the start of this season, hence he did not have the pre-season with the players.

Moreover, a few days after becoming the Blues boss, the intense schedule of games began with 13 games in 43 days from October 1 till the World Cup break.

So, it is a bit unfair to completely judge how the Potter era will shape up at Chelsea on the basis of the last few results. The scheduling of the games and his appointment means that the upcoming World Cup would be a welcome relief for him to take a break and sort out the tactics of this team moving forward.

Injuries to key players have not helped the cause as well, with the likes of Reece James and N’Golo Kante missing a good chunk of the games under Potter, the latter missing every game under the new manager so far.

Having said that, it would be good from the morale viewpoint that Chelsea beat Newcastle United in the league on Saturday. It would be a great result to end the first half of the season on.
