“We can spend all day”- Graham Potter answers if Chelsea could sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United

Graham Potter coy about Chelsea signing Cristiano Ronaldo

Speaking ahead of the match against Manchester United as quoted by Football.London, Chelsea boss Graham Potter refused to answer when asked if the Blues could sign Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo from the Red Devils in the summer.

The 37-year-old’s already uncertain future is under major doubt right now, with Ronaldo being dropped from the squad for the game against the Blues in the aftermath of what he did midweek in the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Juventus superstar, who has struggled to get going this season was seen walking away into the tunnel before the game ended against the Lilywhites and seemed visibly displeased at the fact that he was left on the bench throughout the game.

This incident overshadowed Man United’s 2-0 win against the Lilywhites and Chelsea must remember that Erik ten Hag’s team are coming into the game on Sunday in great form and will have to be wary of the threat that they could pose.

Ronaldo will obviously not be there for the game against the Blues which is always an added advantage but considering the kind of season the 37-year-old is having, it would have been surprising if Ronaldo had even started the game.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the game against the Premier League giants, Graham Potter has refused to talk on Cristiano Ronaldo’s links to Chelsea.

“We can spend all day with these questions, but I’m not going to speak about this. If they are not our players, I am not going to speak to them.”

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the striker. He is likely to be linked with an exit from Old Trafford in January but whether Chelsea must pursue a deal for the 37-year-old is something for the hierarchy at the club to ponder over.

He may be slowing down and he is definitely not the same player anymore but he is Cristiano Ronaldo and if there is anyone who can make a comeback from this situation, it will have to be the Portuguese star.

Right now, the Blues can be happy that they will not have to face the 37-year-old come Sunday and will have one less player to focus on. Let’s hope we manage to win against Erik ten Hag’s team and continue our fine start to life under Potter.
