Injury News: Graham Potter gives update on three Chelsea players including N’Golo Kante

Graham Potter gives injury update on Wesley Fofana, N’Golo Kante and Reece James

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has given injury updates on N’Golo Kante, Wesley Fofana and Reece James. The gaffer gave the updates while speaking to the press, as quoted in Football. London.

Since taking charge of the club last month, the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager has yet to have the full squad at his disposal. However, it now looks like he will have to wait until beyond the World Cup.

Kante has not played for the Blues since the 2-2 draw at home against Tottenham Hotspur. The midfielder picked up a hamstring injury and is due to see a consultant this weekend.

“He’s due to see a consultant at the weekend. It’s a setback so it’s not good news. But anything other than that, at this stage I can’t give you any more.”

Conor Gallagher has stepped up in the Frenchman’s absence. The 22-year-old seems to be finding his form and has been delivering praiseworthy performances over the past few games.

James limped off in the second half during our 2-0 win over AC Milan in Italy. He is also to see a specialist this weekend, but the coach did not want to speculate anything.

“He is due to see a specialist over the weekend so until we get that information there is not much more I can add. The rest will just be speculation from my perspective. We will wait and see.”

The 22-year-old full-back has been one of the best players for his side this season. Should anything serious happen to him it would not only be a loss to the west London club, but also to the England national team. James was the most likely full-back to start games under Gareth Southgate next month.

Fofana walked off the pitch after giving his side the lead in their 3-0 win over Milan last Wednesday. The 21-year-old summer signing was seen leaving the stadium in crutches and Potter believes he won’t be available before the World Cup.

“He is just progressing where he was. I don’t think we will see him before the World Cup.”
