“He is an incredible player”- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gives his thoughts on 23-year-old Chelsea target

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was full of praise for Rafael Leao amid interest from the Blues

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was full of praise for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao after the two sides met for their Champions League group-stage game on Wednesday.

The Blues came off as the dominant side as they thrashed the Italian Champions 3-0 to register their first win of the Champions League campaign.

Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web (h/t Football. London), Aubameyang was asked about Leao. The Blues striker, who scored his team’s second goal, had nothing but praise for the Portuguese forward.

“He is an incredible player, truly impressive. He is very fast, powerful, he can make a difference at any moment. Nothing else to say except that he is incredible.”

Interestingly, Leao has been linked with a move to the west London club. The Blues are also said to have made a late attempt to sign the 23-year-old forward. But nothing could materialise.

However, with the transfer window now shut, the interest in the player remains. Earlier, Metro carried out a report claiming that the Blues were leading the race for the Milan forward who is valued at £87 million.

Leao helped the Rossoneri win the Scudetto last season. He scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 34 league games and was also awarded the Most Valuable Player by the Serie A.

The forward has continued that form this season too, scoring four and assisting the same in seven league games. The 23-year-old was also very impressive against the Blues and was a constant threat to them throughout the game.

He has now earned praise from a potential future team-mate ahead of the reverse fixture next Tuesday. If the forward can impress again, it won’t be surprising to see the west London club knock on Milan’s door again in January.
