Team News: Chelsea handed triple boost ahead of AC Milan game

Chelsea handed triple fitness boost ahead of AC Milan clash

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are handed a triple fitness boost with N’Golo Kante, Marc Cucurella and Edouard Mendy all back in training ahead of the game against AC Milan in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge.

Kante had been back in light training last week before the Crystal Palace encounter. The Frenchman missed more than a month of action since picking up a hamstring injury while playing against Tottenham Hotspur early on in the season. He is now in the final stages of his rehab and training with the team.

Cucurella, on the other hand, missed the weekend’s game due to a throat issue for which he had to visit the hospital. But, it wasn’t a severe problem and the Spaniard is back in training before the European game.

Mendy, who has missed the last three games due to a knee injury he suffered against West Ham United, is nearing full fitness and should be available for selection for the Milan game. Kepa Arrizabalaga has deputised the Senegal international in these games and did a good job, impressing manager Graham Potter as well.

It is yet to be confirmed whether the trio of players mentioned above will take part in the game on Wednesday. More of that will probably be clear once the team sheet is released prior to kick-off.

Irrespective of that, from a fitness viewpoint, it is good news for Chelsea. With games coming every 3-4 days till the start of the World Cup break, Potter would need every player in his squad to use and win as many games as possible.
