Chelsea among the clubs monitoring star Arsenal winger

Chelsea are keeping tabs on Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea are one of the clubs monitoring the progress of Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli whose contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in 2024.

Martinelli, who arrived at Arsenal in 2019 from Brazilian side Ituano, has become one of the important players under Mikel Arteta. His pace, dribbling, directness on the ball and relentless pressing are some of his elite strengths troubling teams all over the league.

Along with talks of a contract extension for Arsenal stars Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, there could be an offer made to the Brazilian winger with improved terms in the near future.

However, as of now, the 21-year-old has two years left in his contract, with an option to extend it by a year. The contract extension might also depend on whether the Gunners finish in the top four or not. The possibility of the former happening is high with the start they have made.

Martinelli is one of the best young players in the league. He scored six and assisted six goals in 29 league appearances last season, though those numbers are not a fair reflection of how well he played. This season, along with a great start, the winger has three goals and one assist in eight league appearances.

So, if Arsenal somehow fail in their attempts to make the player extend his stay, Chelsea are right to be on the case. The 21-year-old has the qualities to make the Blues’ forward line better on the left wing. He is still young and can learn to further improve his already well-rounded game.
