Report: London club offer new contract to African star on Chelsea’s transfer radar

Transfer News: Crystal Palace offer Wilfried Zaha a new contract amid interest from Chelsea

Crystal Palace have offered Wilfried Zaha a new contract amid interest from Chelsea. This is according to The Sun (h/t football.london).

Zaha has entered the final year of his current contract and will be free to speak to other clubs in January. The Eagles have no interest in losing their star man and have offered a new contract to the 29-year-old.

This will come as bad news to Chelsea, who were interested in the forward. The west London club are also said to have made a move for Ivory Coast International late in the transfer window this summer.

Chelsea are not the only club who have an interest in the 29-year-old. Arsenal have long held an interest in the forward and have seen previous approaches rejected along with Everton.

The Palace talisman has always been linked with a move away from his current side every window, but no move has ever materialised for him. He has been at Selhurst Park ever since he moved there from Manchester United in 2015.

A prolific goal scorer with terrifying pace, the forward has amassed huge playing experience under his belt. He has scored a total of 87 goals for the Eagles in all competitions in 435 appearances. He would make a fine addition to the Chelsea squad.

But the player has found his form this season. The 29-year-old has four goals in five league appearances this season. Zaha has never played in a European competition in his career and now has the chance to fulfil such a dream. If he does not renew his contract, he could join a European playing side.

It remains to be seen what decision the player makes. At 29, he still has a few prime years ahead of him before he starts declining. If the Blues want him, now would be the best time to get him.

The Ivory Coast star could be a solution for us up front as well. Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, and Kai Havertz haven’t quite worked out in the centre-forward position – Zaha could perhaps do the trick.
