“There is no day off”- Tuchel confirms training decision for Chelsea players after recent results

Thomas Tuchel to not give his players any day off after recent results

Speaking to the media after Chelsea’s defeat against Dinamo Zagreb (h/t Football.London), Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that there is no day off for the players after a recent run of underwhelming results, which includes the 1-0 defeat at Zagreb in the opening day of the Champions League.

Chelsea’s defeat in Croatia was their third successive away defeat in all competitions at the start of this season, which is not good going. They were timid and lacklustre in the game despite having the majority of the ball.

As a result, Tuchel is understandably an angry man and wants to get this right sooner rather than later. The pressure is on him after spending bucket loads in the transfer market.

Speaking about the current situation regarding the players’ taking an off, here’s the manager (h/t Football.London):

There is no day off. There is no day off in the planning and there cannot be a day off at the moment [given the results].

What this means is that the players will be back in the United Kingdom in the early hours of Wednesday and straight away report for training in Cobham rather than taking a day off.

Their next assignment is a tough London derby away to a Fulham side who have made a decent start to the season. The Cottagers are yet to lose a game at Craven Cottage this season, showing how difficult it will be for Chelsea to go there low on confidence and manufacture a win.

With only 10 points from six league games, the onus is on the west London side to turn up and get a positive result. On the other hand, while losing the opening game of a Champions League group stage is not a disaster, it puts pressure on the coming games.

More Chelsea News:

Games will be coming thick and fast this season with World Cup cramping the schedule. Hence, a team low on confidence would get less time on the training pitch to turn things around. For that reason, Chelsea would be hoping to get on a winning run soon and use that momentum going forward.
