Jose Enrique praises Chelsea star Jorginho in Italy’s win over England
Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique was full of praise for Chelsea midfield maestro Jorginho over his performance in Italy’s win against England.
In a recap of the Euro 2020 final where the Italians were victorious, England were expected to give fierce competition in a bid to have a different outcome than their last meeting.
After failing to secure a spot for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Italy had to bounce back and show a spirited performance and they did just that, Jorginho played a huge role in the team’s impressive performance against England.
Former Premier League football Jose Enrique was quick to heap praise on the midfielder, who controlled the game’s tempo and intensity and showed his high levels.
Jorginho arrived at Chelsea from Napoli as the first major signing of the Maurizio Sarri era with whom the player had shared a special relationship at their previous club, Napoli.
Jorginho was integral to the manager’s style of play ‘Sarri ball’ and although he received a fair amount of criticism in his debut season, it was clear to see the qualities that a player possesses, which is starkly different to many modern-day midfielders.
Hence, it is a notable fact that the player has been integral to the plans of managers who have arrived at Stamford Bridge after the sacking of Maurizio Sarri and Jorginho has featured regularly for the Chelsea squad.
The Italian had a magnificent 2020 season with both club and country and eventually finished third in the 2021 Ballon d’Or rankings, just behind the legendary Lionel Messi and the goalscoring machine Robert Lewandowski.
The rankings are a summary of the company of players that Jorginho finds himself in and as previously mentioned, there are sections of our fans who would want a stronger presence in the middle of the park however the different dimension he brings to the side is what makes the team tick.

Hence, there is no surprise when the player is one of the first names on the team sheet for both club and country and looks set to be an integral part moving forward.
The Azzurri now play against Hungary on Monday night. Hopefully, Jorgi’s gametime is managed to an extent whereby he comes back fit for our Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on October 1.
