Dede believes promising 21-year-old striker was right to commit his future to Chelsea

Nevil Dede believes Armando Broja was right to commit his future to Chelsea

Nevil Dede believes that Chelsea striker Armando Broja was right to commit his future to the club. The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the west London club this summer.

Everton, along with several top-flight clubs were eager to get their hands on the Albanian striker. However, the Cobham graduate instead penned a new deal to stay at his current side till 2028.

And now, former Albania international Dede believes that his counterpart made the right decision. Speaking to Tribal Football (h/t football.london), the former striker gave his thoughts.

We should see how fast he will develop or mature, the only thing that I wish for him is that he has his health and plays as many minutes as possible. He is at a great club where he can be developed and become a very important player. Also, for his age, he’s already becoming perhaps the most important player Albania has.

Armando Broja made the right decision to stay at Chelsea, believes Nevil Dede.

Broja broke into the scene last season when he scored nine goals for Southampton in 38 appearances in all competitions. The 21-year-old was on a season-long loan at St Mary’s and certainly showed off his potential.

The striker was included in the pre-season squad by then-manager Thomas Tuchel. But the Albanian had to return back home due to an injury. He never got the chance to impress the coach and management.

However, he did do so once the team returned to England. He was offered a new contract which he accepted and thus put all rumours about his potential departure to bed. The striker is yet to make a start for his side this season but has come off the bench on five different occasions.

Dede is not wrong in his assessment. A tall and clinical striker, the 21-year-old has all the qualities needed for him to become the target man that the Blues have been searching for. With new manager Graham Potter-who is known to develop young talents- had the helm, Broja has the perfect opportunity to show his true potential.
