Transfer News: Chelsea target a move for young Fulham midfielder Luke Harris

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are targeting a move for young Fulham midfielder Luke Harris in a bid to further bolster their youth team.

They have already signed Cesare Casadei, Carney Chukwuemeka and Omari Hutchinson in the summer transfer window to strengthen the U-23 side. The Blues appear to be building a core of young players for the seasons to come.

Harris is one of the upcoming talents in Fulham, who has done well at the youth level and got a call-up to make the bench in three of the Premier League games of the Cottagers. He is also likened and modelled his game to Chelsea great Frank Lampard.

The 17-year-old is also expected to receive a shock call-up from the Wales national team. He is an attacking midfielder by trade but can play as a central midfielder or as a support striker if required.

He scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for the Fulham youth side last season. The youngster scored a hat-trick in the solitary Premier League 2 game played this season, against Chelsea. The Blues appear to have kept tabs since.

Harris is undoubtedly a bright young talent who would not only enhance the quality of the Chelsea youth team but has the potential to challenge for a spot in the senior team sooner rather than later.

Chelsea are kmakingtheir intentions clear with regards to potentially adding many more young talents to their youth squad. Having let go of quite a few talented starlets in the recent past – Tino Livramento, etc being an example, it is paramount that their academy continues to produce top talents.

Thus, it makes a lot of sense from the Blues’ viewpoint to target the signing of Harris. The player also would have one of the best platforms at the Chelsea academy to develop and become the next big thing in football.
