“I want to go” – PL star open to Chelsea switch

Brighton star Leandro Trossard admits he won’t say no to Chelsea

Speaking to Nieuwsblad via Sport Witness (h/t Football London), Brighton star Leandro Trossard publicly spoke about Graham Potter’s move to Chelsea and whether he will follow suit.

Graham Potter joined Chelsea last month after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel which was ‘surprising’ for everyone at Brighton, including Belgian international Trossard. On asked whether he would like to follow his manager to Chelsea, the player said:

“Our coach did leave for Chelsea now but speculations about me following him make no sense. If the opportunity arises, I want to go.”

Since joining Brighton in 2019, Leandro Trossard has gone on to become a mainstay in the team with 110 appearances and has 33 goals contributions with 20 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.

Joining from Belgian outfit KRC Genk, Trossard was a crucial part of the Brighton & Hove Albion revival under Graham Potter. He was a key player for the Seagulls as they established themselves as Premier League regulars.

More than the points, it was the style of play implemented by Graham Potter which earned the team rare reviews and subsequently earned the manager his big move to Chelsea.

Players who have worked under Potter know the level at which the manager operates and the impact he has made in improving pretty much every first team in the Brighton team.

Hence, Trossard is aware of the fact that the big switch in his career could be most likely through the path of Graham Potter. It would be wise to say that the manager would be keen as well considering the impressive performances of the Belgian under him.

Potter would be taking the first half of the season to assess the current squad and hopefully provide a new lease of life to many first-teamers who seemed to have taken a backstep during the last stages of the Thomas Tuchel era.

More Chelsea News:

Only after careful assessment would there be any substantial evidence of concrete interest from us for new targets such as Trossard and it will be interesting to see how the manager approaches his first transfer window with Chelsea in January.
