Report: New Chelsea signing sent to Milan to get masked

Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been sent to Milan to get his personalised mask

As per a report on the Telegraph, Chelsea’s deadline day signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been sent to Milan in order to get his personalised face mask to protect his jaw. This is done to speed up his process to make his debut for the club.

A Milan-based orthopaedic specialist company called Ortholabsport is in charge of making a mask fit for the 33-year-old striker. The company has created masks for former Chelsea players Antonio Rudiger, Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Cesc Fabregas in the past.

Manager Thomas Tuchel believes they will make one for Aubameyang that would make the player feel comfortable in it despite a broken jaw. Tuchel also anticipates the former Arsenal man to be available for next week’s league game against Fulham if the midweek clash against Dinamo Zagreb comes too early.

Here’s what the Blues boss had to say regarding this situation (h/t Telegraph):

We try with a mask. It depends a little bit on what the specialists say who create the mask for him. And then how he adapts to the mask, so maybe it could be Tuesday, although maybe this is very soon. So maybe it’s Fulham, maybe it is a week later.

The summer-long rumour consisting of Aubameyang and Chelsea was finally brought to a halt when the striker made a move to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona on deadline day.

He is definitely one of those signings that make this team better than before. The Blues have been lacking a number nine throughout the summer after the departure of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. Having Aubameyang would fill that gap with aplomb.

After a slow start to the season, Tuchel must be hoping to have the 33-year-old in the squad as soon as possible. With him in the team, the variety in the forward line goes up a notch, which can only be bad news for opposition defences.
