Chelsea to face late transfer approach for UCL-winning veteran star

Transfer News: Juventus could approach Chelsea for Jorginho

Chelsea might have to fend off late interest from Juventus for Jorginho. This is according to Nick Purewal (h/t Express) who says that the Italian giants have earmarked Jorginho as the preferred option to replace Adrien Rabiot.

Rabiot has been linked with a move to Manchester United. Should that move materialise then the Turin-based club has identified a potential replacement. It is said that Juventus are ‘hopeful’ that they can persuade the Italian midfielder to join their club.

Jorghino has stated that he is happy at Chelsea. The 30-year-old’s contract expires next summer and his agent has admitted that renewing his contract is of the highest ‘priority’. However, the Italian has constantly been linked with a move to Turin.

Thomas Tuchel has spent big money this summer and bought in world-class players like Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly. A lot of other players have been signed for the youth academy as well, as the west London outfit looks to build a team for the present and the future.

Despite this, a central defender, midfielder and striker are still on the wishlist for Tuchel this summer. Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have both left, leaving Armando Broja as the only striker in the team. And now another headache could be added should Juventus approach Jorginho.

The 30-year-old has been a pivotal part of Tuchel’s team. A box-to-box midfielder, he is one of the top goal-scorers of Chelsea. The Italian was again clinical as his penalty won the Blues the game against Everton last weekend.

His partnership with N’Golo Kante in the middle of the park is one of the best in the Premier League. Tuchel will not want to lose such a top midfielder who is likely part of his plans for this season. It will be wise for the Blues to offer the Italian a new contract and tie him down at the club for some more time.

A fan favourite, the fans will hope that the Italian stays in the team for a long time. Tuchel, meanwhile, will be focused on the next game as his side welcome rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a derby match this Sunday.
