Romano: Southampton and Leicester keen to sign fringe Chelsea winger

Transfer News: Callum Hudson-Odoi could leave Chelsea on loan this summer

Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi could be on his way out of Chelsea this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 21-year-old could leave on loan to get more game time.

This will come as a less surprising move given that he was not included in the squad for yesterday’s game against Everton. The player appears to be not part of Thomas Tuchel’s plan for this season.

Southampton have already asked the Blues for Hudson-Odoi on loan, while he was also discussed with Leicester City days ago. It is now up to the player to decide on his future.

An academy graduate, Hudson-Odoi rose through the ranks and was promoted to the senior team in 2019. The England international has struggled to establish himself as a regular under Tuchel.

The 21-year-old could manage to make only 15 league appearances last season in which he scored once and got three assists. And Tuchel not selecting him for yesterday’s game could be a hint that he is not part of his plan for this season.

Apart from the clubs mentioned above, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are also keen on the winger. He is likely to get his desired game time if he moves to a Premier League over such European clubs. If he stays it is likely that his game time will be less than even the previous season.

A right-winger capable of playing anywhere in the front three and also as an attacking midfielder, Hudson-Odio has huge potential in him. A loan will benefit his growth and help him improve his performance. Something that could be hampered if he stays.

It remains to be seen where the player decides to go. He will be wise to choose a club that can guarantee him his desired playing time. A loan move will also give Chelsea the opportunity to track his progress and Tuchel could decide if the player has a future at Stamford Bridge.
