Chelsea told Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that could help them see off Tottenham’s threat on the table
Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Football London), former Chelsea manager and player Glenn Hoodle has approved the potential signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from FC Barcelona and claimed that the attacker will allow Chelsea to maintain a stronghold over their rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea signed Raheem Sterling from Manchester City but the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner and the confusion regarding Hakim Ziyech’s future have made our attacking line weak heading into the season.
Thomas Tuchel has made Todd Boehly aware of it and the club is trying its best to find a solution before the transfer window shuts on 1st September.
Aubameyang has been the subject of interest from Chelsea to compete for the forward position alongside Kai Havertz, who has not been able to make a mark since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Gabon forward ticks a lot of boxes as a potential signing for the Blues and with proven Premier League experience, can be a shrewd addition to the Blues.
Another important factor to consider is the relationship shared between Tuchel and Aubameyang through their time together at Borussia Dortmund and the German only has good words to say about the player.
“I enjoyed a lot working with him. It was a pleasure. Straight away there was a huge bond. We have a very close relationship.”
Tuchel will be keen to add Barcelona forward to his ranks, with the Catalan club willing to sell the player in a bid to raise funds for them to be able to register new players.
It presents a wonderful opportunity for the player to refurbish his image in the Premier League after a tough ending to his Arsenal career. With the arrival of Robert Lewandowski, his game time at the club will also reduce dramatically with the Polish expected to lead the line for the club.
