La Liga goal-getter partial to Chelsea’s interest over Manchester United

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang focused on Chelsea bid as Manchester United fall further behind

In what will be received as good news by Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea fans, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is focused on Chelsea’s bid for him. Fabrizio Romano on Twitter claims that there are no negotiations between the 33-year-old and Manchester United.

He also says that Man United have been ruled out as a potential destination and he is focused on Chelsea as he wants to experience Champions League football. There is contact to discuss personal terms this Thursday. However, Xavi is still insisting on keeping the Gabonese.

Both United and Chelsea have been in the market looking to bolster their attack. They both had shown interest in the former Arsenal captain but looks like the west London club is going to win the race for his signature.

Aubameyang joined Barcelona earlier this January on a free transfer. But after six months in the Spanish city, a reunion with Tuchel looks likely on the cards. The duo were together during their respective stints at Borussia Dortmund.

It is no secret that the Blues could do with a number nine in their ranks. Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling seem to lack the finish that a number nine offers in the team. The wing-backs have been phenomenal in creating chances, but a clinical and tall figure is needed in the box.

The 33-year-old fits such a bill perfectly. A proven Premier League striker, he could be the target man that Chelsea seem to be lacking in the final third. A clinical finisher who is equally good in the air, he could help Tuchel’s side bag more goals this season.

With United seemingly out of the race for the 33-year-old, Tuchel will be wise to wrap up this deal as soon as possible. Xavi is insisting that he wants to keep him, but he is very less likely to be interested in playing second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski.
