Transfer News: Manchester United will not sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Chelsea

According to The Sun, Manchester United will not sell their star man Cristiano Ronaldo to Chelsea. They want to resolve the situation surrounding the player before it turns into a full-blown saga.

Ronaldo told the club that he would like to leave if they receive a suitable offer for him. The player wants Champions League football and has a desire to win some more trophies in what could be the twilight of his remarkable playing career.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly met Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes last month, which raised speculations regarding the Portuguese player. Ronaldo has currently been missing from Man United’s training sessions citing ‘family reasons‘.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United this summer.

Now it is said that United have no plans of selling their legendary striker, especially to a rival club. New United manager Erik ten Hag wants a quick resolution surrounding the player as he prepares the team for pre-season.

So what now?

Thomas Tuchel, meanwhile, has his share of problems. He is currently overseeing a major squad overhaul and is yet to make a signing this summer while seeing senior first-team players like Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Romelu Lukaku depart.

Last season, the Blues were able to create many chances but were struggling to finish them on crucial occasions. A striker is desperately needed and hopefully, Tuchel knows that. Cristiano fits the bill perfectly, be it in the short term. A clinical forward, the Portuguese is equally good in the air as on the ground.

However, the United striker is not really known for his pressing. But he is a player teams can make an exception for given the quality he shows in the box. Of course, some fans would argue that he can hamper the team’s overall play off the ball but that is a compromise you’d have to make with a striker in his late 30s.

Meanwhile, the Blues are also linked with Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, with the former looking likely to join the London club this summer. Signing Ronaldo will be a bit difficult considering United’s stand, but if Chelsea decide to go for him, they should go all out.

It is looking likely that a forward will join the Blues for next season. Ronaldo is a proven goal-scorer, both in the Premier League and elsewhere. Signing him would definitely help Tuchel’s side bag some more goals next season.

But with a year left on his deal, United could call the shots on his future. If they don’t want him to go to Chelsea, it’s best we save our time and resources and look elsewhere.
