Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt wants Juventus to consider Bayern Munich’s offer
According to Christian Falk (h/t Football.London) , Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt and his agents want Juventus to consider only Bayern Munich’s approaches as of now and the Blues are currently not an option.
Chelsea are interested in the signing of the talented Dutch superstar from Juventus this summer but they are not alone in their interest. Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also very interested in signing the player as well.
Despite interest from the Premier League, it is Bayern Munich which seems like the most enticing option for de Ligt at least as of now. Whilst that could undoubtedly change in the coming weeks, right now Juventus have been asked to negotiate only with Bayern.
De Ligt joined Juventus from Ajax in 2019 on the back of an exceptional season for the Eredivisie champions. At that point, he was arguably rated the best young centre-back coming up and he is definitely one of the best central defenders right now.
It is easy to forget the fact that De Ligt is still very young. Only 22 years of age, the Dutchman hasn’t even gotten started on centre-back terms. His best years in the game lie well ahead of him and he could go on to become one of the game’s greats.
The talented Dutchman struggled initially upon moving to Turin. It took him some time to adapt to Italian football and injuries certainly did not help his cause. However, he has only gotten better and better as the seasons have gone by and he is now one of the best defenders in Serie A.
This season, de Ligt slowly yet surely displaced the evergreen Georgino Chiellini from the starting line-up and became the first-choice starter for the Old Lady. In 42 games for the Italian giants this season, De Ligt has scored three goals and provided one assist.
It is no secret that Chelsea need to reinforce their defence ahead of next season and De Ligt would be the perfect option. The talented Dutchman is a natural leader and could command the Blues’ backline for many many years to come.

However, for all this to happen, the Dutchman needs to be convinced that Stamford Bridge is his ideal next destination. It does not seem like it as of now but things could change very soon.
