Transfer News: Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Wesley Fofana
In what will be good news for the Chelsea fans, the club is said to have agreed to personal terms with Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana. This is according to Ignazio Genuardi via Sport Witness (h/t football.london), who claims that the Blues have reached an agreement with the player’s representatives.
Thomas Tuchel has been going through a rough time in the transfer market this summer. The German has seen his club miss out on players such as Raphinha, Nathan Ake, Matthijs de Ligt and the most recent being Jules Kounde. Having lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, the centre-back roster is spread thin.
In a summer when defensive enforcements are of top priority, the club has failed to sign several top-quality defenders. But that has in no way demotivated Tuchel and co. They have already put the past behind them and have set their eyes on a new target. This time from a fellow rival club in Leicester City.
21-year-old Fofana has been added to the shortlist of Tuchel. The Frenchman has been of interest to the west London club since his debut days with the Foxes. The France Under-21 international moved to England from French side Saint-Etienne in 2020.
The departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen has left a hole to fixed at the back. The arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly reduces the problem, but does not solve it. Another centre-back is desperately needed and Tuchel will aware of that. Fofana is a very ideal target who could help in fixing the defensive woes of the Blues.
But he will not come cheap nor easy. The Foxes are said to have put an extortionate price tag of £70 million plus for the centre-back. He recently signed a new deal with the club extending his stay at the King’s Power Stadium. This has somewhat put Chelsea in a peculiar situation.
Fofana missed two-third of last season due to an injury. But the 12 games that he played, he had everyone in awe for him. A phenomenal centre-back, the player has huge potential in him. He is one of the best youngsters in the League and has the potential to become one of the best in world.

Leicester know they have a gem in their hand. He is very important to their squad and Chelsea will likely have to offer a very good package to bring the Foxes to the table. Negotiations will be tough, but if the Blues are as cunning as a fox, they might be able to pull this deal off.
