Romano claims Chelsea are interested in Presnel Kimpembe and Serie A star

Transfer News: Chelsea consider Milan Skriniar as an option this summer

Chelsea’s interest in Milan Skriniar has been there since Antonio Conte was in charge of the Blues. And again this summer, the interest seems to have revived with the west London club said to be interested in the centre-back.

Fabrizio Romano in his podcast with Que Golazo (h/t football.london), confirmed that Skriniar is appreciated by Thomas Tuchel. He added that the Blues are also interested in Presnel Kimpembe and he is still on their list.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, want to keep Skriniar and are said to be demanding €70-75 million for the Slovakian international. They are hoping that such a fee demand will demotivate all interested suitors for the centre-back.

The Blues are not the only ones to be interested in the 27-year-old. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in him but have failed to reached an agreement. This could provide a boost to the Chelsea management.

With long-term target Jules Kounde moving closer to joining Barcelona each passing day, it seems Chelsea have turned their interest elsewhere. They have returned back to Italy after having signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.

There is no doubt that one more centre-back is needed and Skriniar could be a very useful option. The Slovakian has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Italy and Europe. A very experienced player, the 27-year-old has gone on to make 215 appearances for the Nerazzurri.

But with Inter having missed out on Gleison Bremer, they don’t have a replacement for Skriniar and that could toughen up the negotiations for the player. Chelsea could use their good relationship with the club having sent back Romelu Lukaku on loan.

Tuchel and co will have to play their cards right if they want to land such a good defender. Competition from PSG also does very little to help. The fans will hope that whatever happens, their club comes out on the top.
