Chelsea hold talks with 16-year-old Brazilian teenage sensation

Chelsea have held talks with the agent of Brazilian starlet Endrick

Chelsea are said to have held talks with the agent of Brazilian starlet Endrick last Friday. This is according to journalist Jorge Nicola (h/t The Sun), who claims that the Blues held a meeting with Endrick’s agent Frederico Pena and his parents.

The player penned his first pro-contract with Palmeiras following his birthday earlier this month. He is yet to play for their senior squad but has attracted interest from a host of top clubs in Europe including Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, it is the London club that appears to be in the driving seat with the report claiming that the Blues are willing to pay €30 million plus another €10 million in add-ons to get the forward. He is said to have a €40 million release clause in his contract and Palmeiras’ president is desperate to get as close to that figure as possible.

If the report is true then that is a very huge figure to pay for a 16-year-old. But the forward has put in consistent performances in the youth sides having scored a whopping 165 goals in 169 games.

Brazilians are known for their production of top-quality forwards. Real Madrid signed Vinicius Junior for a similar amount and he has since repaid the amount in gold. He has established himself as a regular in one of the biggest teams in Europe and scored in the final of the Champions League last season.

A centre-forward, Endrick could become the next thing to come from Brazil. The interest from other top clubs indicates that he is a quality player and would be a fine addition to Chelsea. The fee may be high, and he will have big boots to fill

Given the inconsistent performances from the Chelsea forwards in front of goal, it would not be a bad idea to get in a lethal goal scorer. However, even if the Blues agree to a fee, the player can only join the side when he turns 18 in 2024. Brazilian footballers are legally not allowed to play abroad until they turn 18.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea agree to sign the player. If they do, the fans and management will hope that he is worth the investment to be at Stamford Bridge.
