Barcelona president makes massive Jules Kounde admission that will please Chelsea fans

Transfer News: Barcelona president Joan Laporta says Jules Kounde is going to Chelsea

In a clip shared by Relevo (h/t the Sun), Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that the transfer of Jules Kounde to Chelsea is imminent.

This one has become a really old narrative that you end up getting really tired of. It hasn’t helped that it has been going on for such a long time.

Will Chelsea be able to convince Jules Kounde? Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, claims that they will. And this would come as a big boost for the Blues, who would be desperate to strengthen at the back.

A fan’s video has gone viral, attracting the attention of others who follow the transfer market. In it, the supporter asks Laporta regarding the status of Jules Koundé’s recruitment. In reply, the Blaugrana president stated that he is heading to Chelsea.

“Kounde? No, he will sign for Chelsea.”

It is unknown which team Koundé will play for in the upcoming season; but both Barcelona and Chelsea are interested in the Sevilla and France defender.

Before the start of the summer transfer window, Kounde was regarded as Chelsea’s top defensive target. Since then, other teams have had the chance to make their intentions known in a transparent manner.

But the fact that the Blues board has been hesitant to give up their pursuit demonstrates how determined the Todd Boehly consortium is to back the manager.

Kounde may have the best opportunity of achieving his potential on Thomas Tuchel’s team because he can learn from some of Chelsea’s more experienced players. Chelsea urgently needs to add defensive reinforcement which means the Sevilla man is guaranteed to get a lot of game time.

If Kounde can work with an experienced defender like Thiago Silva, who is still a vital member of Chelsea’s team at the age of 37, he will potentially grow in his career. If things go to plan, he can be his successor at the Bridge.

Given that Chelsea use a three-back system under Tuchel, there is no doubt that Kounde can have a regular position at the club. The Blues need to complete this transfer as quickly.

The defensive exodus this summer which saw Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave for free transfers has hit us hard and left us open at the back – at least on paper. Hence, it is important to sign another defender despite Kalidou Koulibaly’s addition.
