African Chelsea star on the verge of sealing loan move to Italian behemoths

Transfer News: Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech could be heading to AC Milan

According to @AntoVitiello via @masolinismo as tweeted by @insidermilan_ on Twitter (h/t Football.London), Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech could be on his way to AC Milan. The report states that AC Milan have offered a loan move with potential to become permanent.

Ziyech struggled to find the back of the net last season, having scored 8 goals and notching up 6 assists in a total of 44 appearances for Chelsea. He hasn’t been able to replicate his Ajax form, which secured his move to the London club.

Now he could potentially leave the team as Thomas Tuchel plans to revamp the entire squad as a new era ushers at Stamford Bridge.

AC Milan, who recently won the Scudetto, have been linked with the player. And it seems the move is close to being finalised with talks of a €5m loan with the option to buy €20m in progress.

Good move?

Chelsea signed Ziyech from Ajax for £33.3million in 2020 on a five-year deal. He has had his moments at the Bridge and helped the Blues win the Champions League, UEFA Supercup and FIFA Club World Cup.

The former-Ajax man can play as a central attacking midfielder, a central midfielder and a right-winger. His ability to switch play to the other side of the field and his dangerous crosses arriving into the box are some of his qualities.

But now it seems that he may leave the club as the Blues struggled to find the back of the net last season. His departure could also free up space for the potential arrival of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

Maybe a move to Italy will help him find the form he is missing and it could prove a blessing in disguise for Tuchel and maybe Hakim too. A time away from the Bridge could help the Moroccan to get a more clear view of his future.

What happens next is yet to be seen. Maybe a move will benefit both parties or maybe it will prove beneficial to only one, such a thing only time can tell. However, the Chelsea fans will miss his dangerous crosses into the box next season.

It could also see him become the third Chelsea player in the space of a year to join Milan, with Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori making the switch to the Italian giants last summer.
